Screenwriters Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who both penned Spider-Man 2 and The Mummy: Tomb of Dragon Emperor, have been drafted to write Robotech, Warner Bros. Pictures' adaptation of the anime classic, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Akiva Goldsman and Chuck Roven are producing with Tobey Maguire and Drew Crevello.

Looks like Spidey is back for some more webslinging. Sony Pictures spokesman Steve Elzer says negotiations are nearly complete with Tobey Maguire (who had a great cameo in Tropic Thunder) for two more Spider-Man movies. Director Sam Raimi is also expected to return to helm, according to The Hollywood Reporter. No word on Kirsten Dunst returning as Mary Jane yet.

"The Dark Knight" took in a record $155.34 million in its first weekend, topping the previous best of $151.1 million for "Spider-Man 3" in May 2007 and pacing Hollywood to its biggest weekend ever, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Bryce Dallas Howard, who played Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3, is in negotiations to replace Charlotte Gainsbourg in action-adventure sequel Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Spider-Man 2 director Sam Raimi will return to his genre roots to helm Drag Me to Hell, a supernatural thriller he wrote with his brother, Ivan Raimi, Daily Variety reported. After Drag Me to Hell, Raimi is expected to helm the Hobbit films for New Line and MGM now that Peter Jackson, who will executive-produce the movies, has made it clear he won't direct them, the trade paper reported.

"Spider-Man" star Tobey Maguire will produce and may star in a film based on the classic sci-fi anime Robotech, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Warner Bros. Pictures picked up the rights to Robotech, which features giant robots known as mechas.
