SYNOPSIS
In Sony Pictures "Spider-Man 2", two years have passed since Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) walked away from his longtime love Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) and decided to take the road to responsibility as Spider-Man. Peter must face new challenges as he struggles to cope with "the gift and the curse" of his powers while balancing his dual identities as the elusive superhero Spider-Man and life as a college student. The relationships Peter holds most dear are now in danger of unraveling as he clashes with the powerful, multi-tentacled villain "Doc Ock" (Alfred Molina).

Gough and Millar to Pen 'Robotech'
Screenwriters Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who both penned Spider-Man 2 and The Mummy: Tomb of Dragon Emperor, have been drafted to write Robotech, Warner Bros. Pictures' adaptation of the anime classic, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Akiva Goldsman and Chuck Roven are producing with Tobey Maguire and Drew Crevello.

Looks like Spidey is back for some more webslinging. Sony Pictures spokesman Steve Elzer says negotiations are nearly complete with Tobey Maguire (who had a great cameo in Tropic Thunder) for two more Spider-Man movies. Director Sam Raimi is also expected to return to helm, according to The Hollywood Reporter. No word on Kirsten Dunst returning as Mary Jane yet.

"The Dark Knight" took in a record $155.34 million in its first weekend, topping the previous best of $151.1 million for "Spider-Man 3" in May 2007 and pacing Hollywood to its biggest weekend ever, according to studio estimates Sunday.
07-21-08Howard Replacing Gainsbourg in 'Terminator'
Bryce Dallas Howard, who played Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3, is in negotiations to replace Charlotte Gainsbourg in action-adventure sequel Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Gainsbourg was originally set to play Kate Connor, the wife of human resistance hero Connor. The actress had to bow out because of scheduling conflicts with another film, a French comedy.
