SYNOPSIS
"The Departed" is set in South Boston, where the state police force is waging war on organized crime. Young undercover cop Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) is assigned to infiltrate the mob syndicate run by gangland chief Costello (Jack Nicholson). While Billy is quickly gaining Costello's confidence, Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon), a hardened young criminal who has infiltrated the police department as an informer for the syndicate, is rising to a position of power in the Special Investigation Unit. Each man becomes deeply consumed by his double life, gathering information about the plans and counter-plans of the operations he has penetrated. But when it becomes clear to both the gangsters and the police that there's a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin are suddenly in danger of being caught and exposed to the enemy—and each must race to uncover the identity of the other man in time to save himself.

Director Verbinski Plans Animated Feature
Paramount Pictures has signed Gore Verbinski to direct his first animated feature film "Rango", starring Oscar nominee Johnny Depp, who will voice the title character. Release is set for March 2011.

Mark Wahlberg, who was great in last year's The Departed, is in negotiations to star in Max Payne, which an adaptation of the hit video game of the same name, for 20th Century Fox, according to The Hollywood Reporter. John Moore (Flight of the Phoenix) is attached to direct.

Angela Bassett (Akeelah and the Bee) and Noah Wyle (Donnie Darko: Director's Cut) have joined the cast of Nothing but the Truth for the Yari Film Group. Although not related, the project closely resembles the true—life tales of former CIA operative Valerie Plume, who—you probably know—was outed by a handful of journalists.
10-22-07Baldwin Joins Cook, Hudson in Comedy
Alec Baldwin, who recently received an Emmy nomination for his role as a TV network boss on NBC's "30 Rock" (must be good?), has signed on to join Dane Cook and Kate Hudson in the upcoming comedy Bachelor No. 2. Howard Deutch ("The Replacements", The Whole Ten Yards) will direct the Lionsgate film, which starts shooting next week in Boston.
