Oscar winner and former "American Idol" contestant Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls) has joined the cast of New Line's Sex and the City: The Movie. Hudson will portray the assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw. he movie will begin shooting in New York on September 19th.

Scarlett Johansson will play a femme fatale in Will Eisner's The Spirit, being directed by Frank Miller for Odd Lot Entertainment and Lionsgate, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Spirit is Miller's (Sin City) adaptation of the classic Eisner film-noir comic series. Johansson is in final negotiations to play a dangerous beauty named Silk N. Floss.
