F/X Wizard Stewart to Helm Horror Western

Visual effects wizard Scott Charles Stewart, who co-founded the effects house The Orphanage, has signed to direct Priest, a horror Western adapted from a TokyoPop comic book, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The story is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.

Statham Returns for 'Crank' Sequel

Jason Statham, who is currently filming a remake of Death Race with director Paul W.S. Anderson, is getting Crank'd again. Statham is reprising his role as a rampaging hitman in a sequel to the 2006 thriller Crank. The writing team of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who are just about to start filming their video games meets reality TV movie Game, will write and direct the Lionsgate project.

Isaak Gets Fatherly Role in 'Informers'

Musician Chris Isaak, who had a role in John Waters' A Dirty Shame, has joined the ensemble cast of The Informers, an adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel. The cast includes Billy Bob Thornton, Kim Basinger, Brandon Routh (Superman Returns), Austin Nichols (Glory Road), Ashley Olsen, Jon Foster (Stay Alive), Lou Pucci (Fast Food Nation), Winona Ryder, Mickey Rourke (Sin City) and Amber Heard (All the Boys Love Mandy Lane).

Trio Join Eastwood's 'Changeling'

Jeffrey Donovan (Hitch), Colm Feore (Chronicles of Riddick) and John Malkovich (Eragon) have joined the cast of director Clint Eastwood's Changeling starring Angelina Jolie. The true-life drama follows a woman (Jolie) whose son goes missing in 1920s Los Angeles.
