Sonnenfeld to Save MGM's 'World'
Barry Sonnenfeld, who is an exec producer and director on "Pushing Daisies", will direct and produce the action comedy The How-To Guide for Saving the World for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Daily Variety reported. The project, penned by BenDavid Grabinski, refers to an instruction manual for saving the world, which is left behind by a secret group that protects the Earth from alien invaders after the group is wiped out.

The cast and crew for Marvel Studios' 2011 film The Avengers is coming together quite nicely. Iron Man himself Robert Downey Jr. and Don Cheadle, whose deal to replace Terrence Howard in the Iron Man movies has been finalized, have signed for the actioner, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Natalie Portman, who was last seen in The Other Boleyn Girl, is set to star in and executive produce Don Roos' adaptation of Ayelet Waldman's novel Love and Other Impossible Pursuits. Daily Variety says the plot follows a young woman who discovers the key to recovering her marriage in her relationship with her precocious stepson.
