'Lakeview Terrance' Tops Box Office

The terribly-bad crazy cop thriller Lakeview Terrace, which stars Samuel L. Jackson, topped the weekend box office in US and Canada, according to studio estimates issued on Sunday. The other new releases were largely ignored by moviegoers.

Dunst Gets 'Jealous' at Paramount Vantage

Kirsten Dunst, who just finished a stint in some Hollywoodized clinic for "depression", has signed to star and produce the horror-thriller A Jealous Ghost for Paramount Vantage, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Relatively unknown director Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego is attached to helm the pic, which is based on the A.N. Wilson novel.

New Line Finds 'Thirteenth Hour'

A much more nimble New Line Cinema, which was recently absorbed into Warner Bros. Pictures, has made a pre-emptive acquisition of The Thirteenth Hour, a time-travel novel by Richard Doetsch, Daily Variety reported. Described as a cross between The Bourne Identity and The Time Traveler's Wife, Thirteenth" follows a man accused of brutally murdering his wife who is given a chance to save her by going back in time in one-hour increments.

DreamWorks Finds 'Ghost in the Shell' Remake

DreamWorks Pictures has acquired rights to the Japanese manga Ghost in the Shell and plans to adapt the futuristic police thriller as a 3-D live-action feature film, Daily Variety reported. The story follows the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime.
