Danny Glover (Dreamgirls), Thandie Newton (Crash) and Oliver Platt (Martian Child) are in discussions to join Sony Pictures' 2012, which is being directed by Roland Emmerich (10,000 B.C., Day After Tomorrow, The"), according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project centers on the heroic struggle of the survivors of a global cataclysm.

According to Daily Variety, the project is financed through Kimmel and will be Stephen Belber's feature directing debut.
