Baruchel Fills Disney's 'Apprentice' Shoes

Jay Baruchel, who was last seen in Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Tropic Thunder, is negotiating to play the title role in a live-action The Sorcerer's Apprentice for Walt Disney Pictures, Daily Variety reported. Baruchel would join Nicolas Cage, who plays the sorcerer in the Jon Turteltaub-directed film.

Cho and Pegg Board 'Star Trek' Movie

John Cho, who is best known for stoner comedy Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, has been cast as Sulu in the new Star Trek movie, playing a role popularized by George Takei. In addition, Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) has boarded the Paramount project as Scotty, the ship's Scottish chief engineer.

Rogen in Talks for Sony's 'Green Hornet'

Knocked Up star and upcoming Super Bad writer Seth Rogen is in talks to write, produce and probably star in the long gestating "Green Hornet" feature. According to the Los Angeles Times, Rogen is finalizing his deal with Sony Pictures to take the lead at the property.

New 'Ace Ventura' On the Way

Here we go again with prequels and sequels to Jim Carrey movies. Word has it that teen Josh Flitter, currently starring opposite Robin Williams in License to Wed, will take the lead in Ace Ventura 3. With Carrey presumably off doing better things, Ace Ventura 3 will focus on the son of the original pet detective. Played by Flitter, Ventura becomes a pet detective for his friends, eventually going in search of a stolen baby panda.
