'Happytime Murders' at Henson Alternative
The Jim Henson Company has picked up the spec script The Happytime Murders, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The story takes place in a world where humans and puppets co-exist, with the puppets viewed as second-class citizens. When the puppet cast of an '80s children's TV show called "The Happytime Gang" begins to get murdered one by one, a disgraced puppet LAPD detective turned private eye—with a drinking problem, no less—takes on the case.

Director Brad Silberling (Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events) will next helm Will Ferrell in Land of the Lost, a big-screen adaptation of the cult children's TV series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Silberling's boarding finally makes a go of Lost, which had been in development at Disney, Sony and Warner Bros. before Universal resurrected the project in spring 2005.
