SYNOPSIS

"Into the Wild" is based on a true story and the bestselling book by Jon Krakauer. After graduating from Emory University in 1992, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless (Hirsch) abandons his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life.

    Penn Film to Debut in Alaska

    The new Sean Penn-directed film, Into the Wild, will have its premiere in Alaska. Two screenings are planned for the film, the true story of a 24-year-old Virginia man who hitchhiked to Alaska in 1992 and eventually died in an abandoned bus. The film's debut is scheduled for Sept. 3 and will be released across the U.S. on Sept. 21.

    Mac Knows Disney's 'Old Dogs'

    Bernie Mac, who was last on-screen in mega-hit Transformers, has joined John Travolta and Robin Williams in the comedy Old Dogs, which is set-up at Walt Disney Pictures. The film is being directed by Walt Becker, who previously worked with Travolta on the surprise hit Wild Hogs.
