In 1997 in a small British Columbia town, high school student Reena Virk is killed. In the ensuing investigation and prosecution, eight high schoolers are charged in the case, which include an investigation of the cliques at the group's well-off school as well as the life of Virk, the daughter of Indian immigrants. Two of the students are later convicted.
