Plot Summary: | | |
In 1979, CIA operative Tony Mendez, a master of disguise is put in charge of rescuing six Americans hiding out in Tehran. He comes up with the idea of using a bogus movie and contacts a Hollywood makeup artist John Chambers. Chambers and Bob Sidell, also a makeup artist, launch Studio Six Productions (an allusion to the six Americans awaiting rescue) and announce their first movie project, to be shot in Iran. Mendez travels to Tehran in January 1980 and tells the Americans to pretend they are Canadians on a scouting trip for a big-budget Hollywood epic. The ruse works. |
