Plot Summary:

The story centers on three characters that illustrate the complex reasons why the various European powers chose sides to fight in WWI. An American amublance driver in France who first joins the French Foreign Legion and then joins the Americans, a British soldier wrongly accused of cowardice and a German soldier in the trenches.
