The story is based on Akira Toriyama's manga, which has spawned graphic novels, a long-running TV series and more than 25 video games. Emmy Rossum has booked the female lead (12/17/07). Ron Perlman was offered the role of Piccolo, but turned it down to work on "Hellboy II: The Golden Army" instead.
