SYNOPSIS
Three middle-schoolers take on greedy land developers, corrupt politicians, and clueless cops in the mystery adventure "Hoot" based on Carl Hiaasen's Newbery Honor-winning book. Produced by Jimmy Buffet, Frank Marshall and Walden Media, "Hoot" revolves around a Montana boy who moves to Florida and unearths a disturbing threat to a local population of endangered owls. Determined to protect his new environment, the boy and his friends fight to prevent the adults from making a big mistake. Packed with surprising plot twists, quirky characters, and offbeat humor, "Hoot" is a classic story that's fun for all ages.

Whitaker Confirmed in Talks for 'Expendables'
Forest Whitaker, who was recently seen in Vantage Point and Street Kings, has been confirmed to be in negotiating to join the cast of the action film The Expendables, Stallone's latest writing and directing effort, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Whitaker would play the CIA liaison for a group of mercenaries (played by Stallone, Jet Li, Randy Couture and Jason Statham) who are clandestinely sent to South America to overthrow a dictator.

Superbad helmer Greg Mottola will direct the extraterrestrial comedy Paul for Working Title and Universal Pictures, which will star Shaun of the Dead actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, Daily Variety reported. Mottola, who recently wrapped the upcoming comedy Adventureland, will begin shooting Paul in mid-April in New Mexico.

Jack Black, who starred in the summer hits Kung Fu Panda (now on DVD!) and Tropic Thunder, will toplone a new version of Gulliver's Travels for 20th Century Fox. The latest take on the Jonathan Swift classic will be directed by Rob Letterman from a script adapted by Joe Stillman, with a rewrite by Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall).
