Freddy Prepping for 'Elm Street' Return

Freddy Krueger is sharpening his blades again and preparing for a comeback, 24 years after making his screen debut in A Nightmare on Elm Street, according to Daily Variety.

New Line is reportedly in talks with production company Platinum Dunes over the possibility of a new series of films based on the character.

Krueger�who haunts the dreams of teenagers before murdering them�starred in a total of eight films and two television spin-offs after making his debut in director Wes Craven's 1984 classic.

The chilling character, originally played by Robert Englund, became one of the most popular horror movie villains in history through the 1980s.

Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form will oversee the remake.

Bay, Fuller and Form are also planning to relaunch another iconic horror movie foe, Friday the 13th's hockey-mask wearing psychopath, Jason Voorhees, which will start production in May.
