'Twilight' Co-Star 'Cowboys' Up

Cam Gigandet (Twilight, Never Back Down) is in negotiations to play the lead role in Mario Van Peebles' fighter plane thriller Kerosene Cowboys.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shane West and Rachael Leigh Cook (Nancy Drew, "She's All That") are also negotiating for the film, which is set up at Svarog-Afterburner Films.

Kerosene Cowboys is based on the novel by Randy Arrington and focuses on pilots in an elite Navy attack squadron. In true "Top Gun" fashion, Gigandet will play a hotshot pilot, with Cook as his love interest. West would play his friend-turned-nemesis in the Adam Prince-scripted film.

West's credits include "Once and Again," "ER" and the upcoming remake of The Lodger, which also co-stars Cook.
